UGC platform comparison

Trend.io Alternative: UGC creator platform without a $550 credit package

Trend sells UGC as prepaid credit packages from $550, with creators who apply to your project and credits that expire after 12 months. If you would rather pick the creator yourself, set the turnaround in the brief and pay per order only when you approve the cut, that is what this marketplace does, from $49 a month.

Browsing and briefing are free. You pay when you hire.

The short answer

Trend charges $550, $1,045, $1,980 or $3,872 up front for credit packages of up to 6, 14, 28 or 56 videos, which is $91.67 to $69.14 per video when the creators you approve are at the lowest credit tier. There is no monthly plan and no percentage fee. UGCcreators charges $49, $149 or $499 a month plus a 10%, 7% or 5% fee on the creator's own rate, paid per order on approval.

What Trend has that we do not: product photography as well as video, a pool of thousands of creators, and an all-in price for a one-off batch. Buying six videos once from whoever applies? Trend is cheaper. Buying video every month from creators you choose? Do the math below.

UGCcreators vs Trend.io, side by side

Trend figures below were read off trend.io/pricing and its pricing FAQ in September 2026: the four credit packages, the per-video and per-photo rates Trend itself prints under each package, the credit cost per creator and the expiry and licensing terms. Pricing moves on both sides, so confirm current numbers on trend.io before you commit budget.

When Trend.io is still the better choice

Trend has been at this longer than we have and prices one kind of purchase very well. Four cases where we would tell you to stay:

You need photos too

Trend sells product photography and video from the same credit pool, at under $37 a photo. We sell video. A brand refreshing an Amazon listing with stills and a few clips gets one vendor there and two here.

You buy one batch, not a program

Six videos for a launch, then nothing for a quarter: $550 all-in with rights included beats a plan you would cancel after a month plus creator rates on top. Our plans earn their price on repeat volume.

Any capable creator will do

Trend's per-video price assumes the 20 credit tier and applicants you approve from a queue. If you do not need a specific face, age or city, that queue is a feature and the price reflects it.

You want a big pool this week

Thousands of creators means a broad brief fills fast. Our catalog is new and small, and a narrow casting call may not have three matching creators available on a given Tuesday.

Trend.io pricing vs UGCcreators at three monthly volumes

The two models do not line up one to one, so the table prices a full month of video on each. Trend is shown twice: at the 20 credit creator tier its packages advertise, and at the 60 credit tier, which is the top of the range Trend prints for a creator delivering two videos. Our column assumes a creator rate of $125 per video, which is a working assumption for planning, not a quoted price; the actual rate is whatever the creator you invite lists, and you see it before you hire. Every figure is the full monthly cost including creators, excluding product and shipping, which you pay everywhere.

Monthly program Trend, 20 credit creators Trend, 60 credit creators UGCcreators plan UGCcreators total
6 videos (3 creators, 2 each) $550 Starter package 180 credits, about $1,649 at $9.16 each Starter, $49 + 10% $874
14 videos (7 creators, 2 each) $1,045 Essential package 420 credits, about $2,970 to $3,847 depending on package rate Plus, $149 + 7% $2,022
28 videos (14 creators, 2 each) $1,980 Growth package 840 credits, about $5,800 to $7,694 depending on package rate Pro, $499 + 5% $4,174

Read it plainly. If the creators who apply to your Trend project are at the 20 credit tier and you are happy with them, Trend is cheaper at every volume: $550 against $874 for six videos, $1,045 against $2,022 for fourteen. Trend's advertised "up to 6 videos" and "$91.67 per video" are real numbers at that tier, and we would rather print them than pretend otherwise.

The picture flips when you want a specific creator. Trend prices creators at 20 to 60 credits, so a 60 credit creator on the Starter package costs $550 for two videos, $275 each, and fourteen videos from that tier run roughly $3,000 to $3,850. The same fourteen videos from a $125 creator here cost $2,022 on Plus, and you chose the creator instead of approving an applicant. The honest caveat: our $125 assumption is yours to check against the catalog, and Plus caps you at ten hires a month, which is why the 28 video row sits on Pro. There is also the cash question. Trend's $1,045 is paid before anyone films and any leftover credits expire in a year. Our $2,022 is paid one order at a time, each captured only after you approve the cut, and a month with no hires costs the plan fee alone.

What you get for the plan fee, and what you give up

Trend bundles the creator, the platform and the rights into one prepaid credit. We unbundle them so you can see and control each part: brief, invite, hire, approve, pay.

Nothing prepaid, nothing expiring

No credit package to size in advance and no balance to use up before a deadline. A plan month with zero hires costs $49, $149 or $499 and nothing else.

You invite, nobody applies

Filter the catalog by niche, platform and rate, watch portfolio clips, then invite the creators you want against your brief. On Trend the creator chooses you first; here it is the other way round.

Approval releases the money

Your card is authorized when you hire and captured only once you approve the cut. A delivery that misses the brief goes back as a reshoot request against the brief, not as a support ticket about credits.

Turnaround is a brief field

You set the delivery window when you write the brief and the clock starts when the product reaches the creator. Trend quotes 2 to 3 weeks as an average across the whole project.

Reshoots scale with the plan

One reshoot per order on Starter, three on Plus, unlimited on Pro. Trend does not publish a revision count on its pricing page, so ask before you buy credits.

What you give up

Product photography, an all-in per-video price that beats ours at the base creator tier, and a pool of thousands of creators. If those matter more than choosing the creator, weigh them before the fee table.

How switching from Trend.io works

No demo call and no onboarding fee. The one thing to plan is your remaining Trend credit balance, because it expires 12 months after purchase and there is no reason to leave it unused.

1

Spend down your credits

Check the purchase date on your Trend package and run the last credits on projects where any applicant will do. Move the briefs that need a specific creator or a fixed date over here.

2

Reuse your project brief

Your Trend project already describes the product, the hook, the format and the creator profile. Paste it in and add the two fields Trend does not ask for: the delivery window and the usage terms.

3

Invite and hire into escrow

Shortlist from the catalog and hire at each creator's listed rate. Your card is authorized for the order and the delivery clock starts once the product reaches the creator.

4

Approve, then pay

Review the cut against the brief. Approve and the creator is paid and your license starts. Miss the brief and you send a reshoot request against the same document.

Who moves off Trend.io, and why

Brands that kept approving the same three creators

After two or three projects most teams know exactly who they want. At that point the applicant queue is friction, and a marketplace where you invite those three people directly against a standing brief is the simpler tool.

Media buyers on a monthly creative cadence

Paid social teams that need six to ten fresh cuts every month want a delivery date they set, not a 2 to 3 week average, and reshoots they can count on. Plan-based reshoots and a brief with a turnaround field fit that rhythm.

Brands with credits about to expire

A package sized for a launch that did not use every credit is money on a clock. Buying per order, with the charge captured only on approval, means the next launch is sized to what you actually shoot.

Comparing more than two platforms? The Billo alternative page prices the other pay-per-finished-video model, the JoinBrands alternative breakdown covers the marketplace with a free entry tier, the Collabstr alternative comparison covers the largest public creator directory, and the Insense alternative comparison sets a quarterly subscription against monthly billing, and the Twirl alternative page prices the other prepaid model, where credits never expire but start at $325 a video. For a category view, the roundup of UGC creator platforms for Shopify brands puts the pricing models side by side.

Questions brands ask before leaving Trend.io

What is the best Trend.io alternative for brands?

It depends on why you are leaving. If the problem is prepaying $550 or more for credits that expire in 12 months and taking whichever creators apply, a brief-and-invite marketplace such as UGCcreators fixes both: you pick the creator, pay per order from $49 a month, and the card is charged only when you approve. If you want a product photo studio and video in one buy, Trend still fits better.

How much does Trend.io cost?

Trend sells prepaid credit packages: Starter $550 for 60 credits, Essential $1,045 for 140, Growth $1,980 for 280 and Scale $3,872 for 560. Each package is described as up to 6, 14, 28 or 56 videos, which works out to $91.67 down to $69.14 per video. Individual credits are $9.16 each and creators cost 20 to 60 credits for a delivery of two videos or five photos.

Does Trend.io charge a platform fee?

No separate percentage fee. Trend's pitch is "pay for UGC, not platform fees": the creator, the platform and the license are all inside the credit price. UGCcreators separates them: a plan at $49, $149 or $499 a month, a 10%, 7% or 5% marketplace fee, and the creator rate on top, which you see on each listing before you hire.

Do Trend.io credits expire?

Yes. Trend states on its pricing page that credits expire 12 months after purchase, so an unused part of a package is gone after a year. UGCcreators has nothing prepaid to expire: you hire one order at a time, the card is authorized for that order and captured only after you approve the footage, and the plan itself is monthly.

How long does Trend.io take to deliver content?

Trend says it takes 2 to 3 weeks on average to get all of your content produced, counting creator applications, shipping the product and the shoot. On UGCcreators the delivery window is a field in the brief, and the clock starts when the product reaches the creator, so a 7 day turnaround is a term you set rather than an average you hope for.

Who owns the content made on Trend.io?

Trend states that every piece of content you approve is fully licensed to you, with 100% licensing and distribution rights for websites, social, Amazon pages and ads. UGCcreators grants the same in practice: approving an order and capturing the payment gives you a perpetual, worldwide license to run the video on any channel, paid ads included, at no extra fee.

Can I choose my creators on Trend.io?

You review applications. On Trend you create a project, creators apply and you approve the ones you want from that queue, at a set credit budget with no negotiation. On UGCcreators the direction is reversed: you filter the catalog by niche, platform and rate, watch portfolio clips and invite the specific creators you want against your brief. Nobody applies unless invited.

Is Trend.io worth it for a small brand?

For a launch batch of six videos where any capable creator will do, yes: $550 all-in with rights included is hard to beat, and we say so below. It is a worse fit when you need a specific person, a fixed turnaround or a video every month, because the smallest package is $550 up front, credits expire and the creator is whoever applies.
